Strengthening Public Understanding of
Medicines & Health Information
Med Aditus Foundation’s Anti-Misinformation Program is designed as a multi-channel public health communication initiative that combines evidence-based messaging, community engagement, and digital outreach. Rather than reacting to individual rumors, the Med Aditus Foundation’s Anti-Misinformation Program will focus on strengthening the overall information environment around medicines by improving baseline understanding of how medicines work, how to identify reliable information, and how to engage safely with health services.
Health misinformation spreads faster than facts, undermining treatment and eroding trust in health systems.
In many African settings, false or misleading claims about medicines travel through social media, communities, and informal markets, shaping how people use, or misuse life-saving treatments.
The Med Aditus Foundation Anti-Misinformation Program will be developed to address this challenge by improving access to accurate, practical, and trusted health information. The Med Aditus Foundation’s Anti-Misinformation Program will focus on medication safety, quality, and appropriate use, and is intended to support informed decision-making, reinforce trust, and reduce harm.
Community Engagement & Amplifiers
The program will work with trusted local figures as community leaders, health workers, educators, and pharmacists who often serve as information sources within their communities. These partners will help reinforce accurate messages and counter misinformation through interpersonal communication.
The Program model
Why We Do This Work
Misinformation undermines medication adherence, delays care-seeking and increases exposure to substandard and falsified medical products. In settings where regulatory oversight and access to trusted information vary, misinformation can directly contribute to preventable illness and loss of life.
By strengthening public understanding of medicines and improving trust in reliable information sources, the Anti-Misinformation Program aims to support safer medication use and more effective health systems.
